Virtual Assistant Industry and Afrivan History
Gone are the days of secretary with old typewriters and lots of painstaking manual office procedures. With the launch of the internet and advance unifying technologies and business tools, the job of a secretary has create a more advance and sophisticated industry known as Virtual Assistant(VAs).
Let me make it clear that Virtual Assistant has it root from the job of a secretary, but today’s technology has made the profession of a Virtual Assistant more creative, technical and advance in nature. Administrative services is just the iceberg of what a Virtual Assistant can do, and the sky is no longer the limit to what VA industry is evolving to. Professional sectors such as Finance, Insurance, Medical, Publishing, Legal, Computer and Engineering are also carving out Virtual Assistant as part of their services they now offer their clients.
Virtual Assistant industry has been around since the 1980 in United States, Canada and other parts of the world, but rapidly gaining more attention and forcing small to large businesses to rethink, restructure, re-delegate how business operations are manage. The Virtual Assistant industry is still a new concept in Africa and some part of the world, and people are really paying attention to the industry and technology availability. The newness of the Virtual Assistant gave birth to African Virtual Assistants Network to educate, empower and inspires lot of African worldwide about global business opportunities in Virtual Assistant as a profession.
African Virtual Assistants Network™ was established in 2008, by Topsie Egbetokun right from her virtual assistant business Business Without Boundaries. Business Without Boundaries started in 2006 with the sole purpose of providing business support services and solutions to small business and large corporation. While managing Business Without Boundaries and networking she discovered that, there were few Africans in Virtual Assistants industry and small business in Africa are yet to understand the benefit of partnering with a Virtual Assistant to provide support and services for their business. She also discovered that most companies outsource some of their business processes to third parties and lastly, the internet and unifying technology has the made the world a small place to conduct business virtually anywhere.
With this three facts, she decided to start Afrivan to educate, empower and let people see the global business opportunities in this profession and beyond. African Virtual Assistants Network™ is the first organization establish for all African VAs locally and globally for business empowerment and enrichment.
Topsie is dedicated to Afrivan mission and goals. She works very hard to manage every detailed aspect of Afrivan establishment and their is not enough words to describe her unrelentingly contributions to Afrivan and what she is set to accomplish for other VAs and African business worldwide.
